Vortex Ehanced

The Vortex Indicator is a technical analysis tool used in financial markets to identify the start of a new trend or the continuation of an existing trend. It was developed by Etienne Botes and Douglas Siepman in 2010 and is based on the work of J. Welles Wilder, who created the Average Directional Index (ADX). The Vortex Indicator focuses on the relationship between the highs and lows of prices to determine the strength and direction of a market trend.

The original Vortex Indicator consists of two lines:

  1. VI+ (Positive Vortex Movement): Tracks upward price movement.
  2. VI- (Negative Vortex Movement): Tracks downward price movement.

In the version it will show as an Histogram moving above and under a zero line.

  • Uptrend: When the Vortex crosses above the zero line, it suggests that an upward trend might be starting or continuing.
  • Downtrend: When the Vortex line crosses below the zero line, it indicates the possibility of a downward trend.
